Rediscover your love of tap dancing with your instructor Lisa, or if you’ve never danced before, get ready to have an absolute ball learning & mastering a new skill.
Lisa’s love & passion for dance began at the tender age of 4 in South Australia under the guidance of Glenda Furnell. She has many fond memories of many hours spent in the dance studio, building the foundation of her lifelong passion.
After finishing secondary school, Lisa moved to Melbourne to pursue her dancing dreams. She was fortunate to train under the guidance of Jillian Fitzgerald, Anne Marie Brazier, Janet Liddell, and Greg Mills. During this time, Lisa taught at dance schools across Melbourne & worked as a freelance performer in theatre restaurants, television & at corporate & charity events.
In 2016, Lisa expanded her practice by completing her Certificate III in Fitness through the Australian Fitness Academy with the plan to combine her love of dance with health & wellbeing.
Alongside her dance fitness classes, Lisa is also a Dance Therapy Specialist. She creates and delivers customised seated dance & movement sessions for residents in aged care homes, day centres & dementia support groups. Her sessions are designed to bring joy, connection & proven health benefits to residents through accessible, uplifting movement.
Lisa’s passion for dance therapy is grounded in research. In 2016, she collaborated with Professor Meg Morris from La Trobe University on a study exploring tap dance and its impact on health and wellbeing. The research highlighted that dance — combining physical movement with cognitive sequencing — can significantly improve motor skills, wellbeing, quality of life, and cognitive function.
Whether it’s an energetic Let’s TAP class or a joyful seated dance session in aged care, Lisa brings movement, music, and meaning to every class.
